My Little Pony: The Movie is a 2017 animated musical-family film that was released on October 6, 2017.


The film stars Ashleigh Ball, Emily Blunt, Kristin Chenoweth, Taye Diggs, Andrea Libman, Michael Peña, Zoe Saldana, Liev Schreiber, Sia, Tabitha St. Germain, Tara Strong And Cathy Weseluck. The film was directed by Jayson Thiessen.


Plot[]

The Ponies are preparing for The Friendship Festival Event, but get a rude awakening when the dark forces invade Canterlot and the Mane Six flee away from Canterlot to an epic adventure to liberate Canterlot in Equestria.


Why It's Better Than Postman Pat: The Movie[]

  1. Decent storyline.
  2. Good voice acting.
  3. Twilight Sparkle and the Mane Five are likeable.
  4. Tempest Shadow and Grubber are decent anti-hero characters.
  5. Beautiful animation and characters.
  6. Awesome soundtrack.
  7. The new movie characters like Capper, the Pirates and Seaponies are likable as well.


Downsides[]

  1. The film can be a bit dark for kids.
  1. The film can be cliché at times.
  1. Too much screen time of Tempest Shadow, the major anti-hero along with Grubber and not enough of Storm King, the major villain.
  1. The Storm King is a lame villain.
  1. Starlight Glimmer wasn't in The Mane Group. We don't even know what happened to her. Luckily, she did make a cameo in the film.
  2. Princess Luna didn't do anything at all in the film, but turned to stone.
  3. The film's rating can be outrageous to some people.


Reception[]

The film received mixed reviews from critics, but it was utterly liked by My Little Pony fans because they been promised for a feature film that makes it more entertaining for the fans of MLP: FIM. And as of January 2018, It holds a 5.2/10 rating on Rotten Tomatoes with a critic consensus that states "Charming and sweet, My Little Pony: The Movie will please its dedicated fanbase, even if it's unlikely to encourage non-devotees to gallop along for the ride." On IMDb, the film holds a film a 6.1/10 rating.


Box Office[]

As of December 3, 2017, My Little Pony: The Movie has grossed $21.9 million in the United States and Canada, and $30.4 million in other territories. Overall, the film made a worldwide gross of $52.3 million.
