Jaws is a 1975 American thriller film directed by Steven Spielberg based on the 1974 novel of the same name by Peter Benchley and inspired by the Jersey shore shark attacks of 1916. It stars Roy Scheider, Robert Shaw, Richard Dreyfuss, Lorraine Gary and Murray Hamilton. The film was released on June 20, 1975 and currently holds a 98% "Fresh" on Rotten Tomatoes. Now considered one of the best films ever made, Jaws was the prototypical summer blockbuster, with its release regarded as a watershed moment in motion picture history. Jaws became the highest-grossing film of all time, until the release of 1977's Star Wars.

Plot[]

A 25-foot-long great white shark arrives on the shores of a New England beach resort called Amity Island and wreaks havoc with bloody attacks on swimmers, until police chief Martin Brody teams up with marine biologist Matt Hooper and an old seafarer named Quint to hunt the monster down before it causes more harm.

Why It's Better Than Jaws 3-D and Jaws: The Revenge[]

  1. Amazing suspenseful score by John Williams.
  2. Great characters.
  3. The actors do a great job (especially Roy Scheider, Robert Shaw, and Richard Dreyfuss).
  4. The opening scene is one of the best horror opening scenes ever.
  5. Better storyline that is just like the original novel.
  6. It doesn't take place during Christmas like in Jaws: The Revenge. Instead, it's a Summer thrill ride.
  7. The final showdown with Brody and the shark is epic and better than the ones from Jaws 3-D and Jaws: The Revenge.
  8. The shark looks way better than the ones from Jaws 3-D and Jaws: The Revenge.
